Finals are just around the corner, and with them comes a whole new set of stress for many of us. But it doesn?t have to be that way. A little stress is great when harnessed for success. Follow these tips and you are sure to be well on your way to success. If you are an A student it?s time to make 100s across the board, if you are a B student, it?s A time. Follow the tips here at Zen College Life and you are gauranteed to have greater success than you have had in previous semesters
This may seem like a no brainer, but somehow some people still find ways to shop, hang out with friends, and do all sorts of things that are not studing. For that week you should be a hermit. Seriously, find a corner in your library and move in.
Plan every hour of study for that week, and plan your breaks. Know what subject you are going to study at what time, how long you?ve allotted to each class, what time you are going to eat, what drinks you will drink, etc.
Everything you can plan for your week of studying should be planned, and every other aspect of life should be put off till the week after finals.
If your underwear is dirty, then you?ll have to be smelly that week, or go commando, because your laundry time could be better spent with your head in a book.
little brother/sister to call you in a week cause you?re busy. Grandma dying? Ok, well you can make time for things of this nature, but anything else needs to be put on hold. This means forget any thought of a social life.
our social life doesn?t exist the week before finals.
Stop kidding yourself. Starbucks is not a place to get good studying done.
Your study locale should be silent, distraction free, well lit, and with enough room to spread your books across a table. You should have headphones and an MP3 player, whether you listen to music or not. Put the headphones on when studying, even without music. This will generally keep anyone from bothering you.
Bring a jacket or sweater, just in case. And a watch with an alarm. If i?m going to be there a while I sometimes take 15-20 minute naps, and the jacket can be used as a pillow while the watch is my alarm clock.
Bring snacks. Chex mix is a good snack, and pretty much any kind of nuts work great. Nutragrain bars and power bars will keep you alive. Also, even though I?m not a big supporter of large amounts of caffeine, if you are going to drink it, this is the week to do so.
So stock up on coffee, redbull, monster or whatever it is that keeps you awake. I personally drink green tea. It?s less caffeine, but I?ll drink 3-5 cups in one sitting, so it adds up
Study groups work for some and not for others. I don?t usually advocate using a study group until after you?ve already completed your studying for that subject. The reasons are simple.
If you don?t know your stuff you will probably not learn it fast enough with the social distraction, and if you do you can test your recall ability by teaching it to the group. For these reasons I usually like to meet with friends of the class right before the test, say the night before or the day of. I dont usually use this time to learn, so it?s perfect for sharpening my skills.
cannot believe how many people walk around like zombies during finals week. It?s an epidemic, due to non-planning and all nighters, neither of which I advocate. Do yourself a favor. If you don?t function well on 3 hours of sleep, don?t try to.
If you need your 8 hours regardless, factor that in and don?t push it. If your brain can?t take the lack of rest, your study time will be wasted anyways, make good plans for sleep as well as study.
Don?t study for an essay test based on recognition of terms. They won?t be there, and if you can?t recall them you?ll fail. In the same sense, don?t try to memorize every word for a multiple choice test.
You?ll see the key elements spelled out for you, and the extra time you spent memorizing sentences could be better spent on that essay test we talked about.
Strategize your studying around the type of test that your professor administers. If your teacher gives true/false sections of a test, understand the qualities of the fact that would make it true or false. If there is matching, know the important aspects of key terms. The only parts of tests that you really need to memorize every aspect of are essay tests, especially if your teacher gives you nothing but a premise and you have to explain in great detail.
This is the one thing that I do not neglect during finals week. I work out 5-8 times a week, just depending on my mood, and to give that up would be devestating to my stress relief.
Don?t overdo your physical exercise to the point that you are too tired to study, but short, stress relieving activities will only do you good during finals week, keeping that blood blowing through those veins and arteries.
Even if you are the regular couch potato, don?t underestimate the vaule of a good walk between study sessions, or even during one if you can?t get your mind straight. Sometimes I need to get away from the books, if only for a few minutes, just to get perspective.
Let?s face it, if this is your first time going to office hours the professor probably isn?t going to give you the extra point between an A and B. But that doesn?t mean it wont do you any good. Your professor teaches this same subject year after year, and any question relevant to the test could be answered in a matter of minutes.
If you can?t understand something, you pay tuition to have access to them or the TA. Pick their brains until you understand every aspect of that test. And ask the professor for old versions of the exam. The worst thing he could say is no, right?
I have 3 different places of study: My school library, an empty classroom, and my desk at home. I try the library first, if it?s full or noisy, I go to a classroom. The only reason I choose the library over a classroom is that many classrooms at my school don?t have windows, and I like to look outside? Home is my last choice.
It is quite and I have the space, but there are still too many distractions. As far as preparing for each exam, I don?t schedule hours for certain exams. I usually just try to get through one at a time, only switching if my brain starts to reject learning a subject.
his one I still have some work to do on. I always have green tea, so that?s not an issue. But since I work out so often, I?m always hungry. This semester I?m going to try mixed nuts, carrots and celery, and something sweet. I don?t recommend candy, because the insulin spike never seems to help with studying. I usually take a multi-vitamin every day along with 1000mg of Vitamin C daily.
f I?m going to lift weights that day I will drink a protein shake. I stay away from fried foods and fatty foods that week, they just tend to slow me down. Fast food is already banned from my diet, so that is not an issue.
I make study breaks fun. The way I work is an hour and a half of study and a half hour of break time. This may seem like too long a break for you, so go with what works for you. But with this plan I can study for 12+ hours a day, so it works for me.
I like to keep my breaks fun so that once they are over I?m ready to study again. I usually take my guitar, laptop, mp3 player, and a fun book to read. I take turns between those for each break. Planet Earth is probably the most fun thing to watch during studying. It?s educational so your brain doesn?t go to sleep, but it is still very interesting.
I don?t kid myself. Studying isn?t fun, and sometimes I just can?t concentrate. For this I don?t take a break, since I haven?t yet earned it with an hour and half worth of studying. I take a 15 minute nap, or a 10 minute walk.
Usually if I?m going to nap I close my eyes and visualize myself taking the exam, visualize the success of answering each question correctly, and turning each page with a smile on my face. You?d be surprised at how quickly that can melt away stress. If I?m walking I do the same, or just try to empty my mind of all thoughts, like a Zen walk of sorts.

I don?t study on the day of the test. Some people keep their books open till the professor walks in, and they look at me like I?m crazy. The truth is that is just too stressful for me. I give myself a break.
If I don?t know if by the day before, I just wont know it, but I?m not going to cram in the classroom before the test. It would be too hard on my brain and I probably still have other finals to worry about.
Well this was quite a long post, but I hope you found a few diamonds in the rough. Like I said, I have great success following this plan and I?m quite sure if you take it and modify it to your needs you will have great success as well
And once that week of finals is over you are free. You can sleep in late, and waste all day playing video games if you want. Keep that in mind and be disciplined about your finals. You?ll be glad you did. What do you do when studying for finals? Have any tips or tricks to share? Leave a comment, we?d love to hear them.
It must be written by writers who have painstakingly researched the topics and concepts needed to succeed on the Child Life Exam. The blind cannot hope to lead the blind.
The world no longer revolves around the gravity of perfect intelligence and a large brain capacity does not mean you can crush your competition with a force that is titanic. The world has changed and being intelligent doesn't normally equate to being a successful person. I mean look at the example of the blue whale. It has a monstrous brain, but it still doesn't know how to avoid whalers or use its immense size and weight to capsize some of these pirates who try to use their meat for profit.
Why highly intelligent people seldom succeed in life is because they can't communicate well with the world around them. Can a blue whale raise a protest? Not really.
Intelligence is a preposition in life that makes you think that you are better than a lot of the rabble that surrounds you. That intelligence can blind these very people from the insensitivies that they exude and how others view them. These people also think that the route to power and success is derived purely from intelligence and they sometimes live in a fantasy world that they create around their supposed brain power - a world which they constantly look down from.
This is a distance that develops whether or not they realise it and sometimes, a person can be disliked simply because of his or her intelligence. This distance is sometimes so far apart that it gets to the position where one side of the fence can't listen to each other, the messages get garbled and miscommunication sets in.
One side thinks the other is stupid and the other thinks they are haughty. And most of the time it is the intelligent people who lose themselves in this translation. They become unpopular with most of the people around them; they become reclusive and start to have a low opinion on everyone around them in the constant journey to find intelligent conversation.
They get ostracized in community and this leads to what people called a deficient personality and a 'super ego inferiority complex'. This affects them in whatever they do and sooner or later they lose their confidence and draw deeper and deeper into this view of themselves as superior - until it takes over their lives.
It doesn't help that they get a culture shock - especially when they leave college (the haven of most of the intellectuals) and realise success and riches don't always and sometimes never come naturally with intelligence.
It short, it becomes an emotional roller coaster ride that leads them to failure. While some might think this is a dramatic picture to paint, it is sometimes the end result of some people - people who get so involved in this mindset and get so disappointed in the real world that they become stunted, emotionally and lose all ability to communicate with the world outside them.
ave you ever been out in the backyard working on a project and for some reason you couldn't hit the nail right on the head? Even if most of the time you normally did? What was that? Probably, you had your mind on something else. Read on to how this can apply to your success.
All I am trying to do here is to illustrate just how important our focus is. We have to be focused in on what we are doing right in the moment. If not we are just going to be hitting our thumbs with the hammer and not the nails.
The more you can train your mind to focus on what you are doing, the better you are going to be at whatever you are doing. It's that simple. And not focusing can have some pretty disastrous results. We're going to wind up with some swollen thumbs and how can we expect our businesses to thrive if that happens?
Make it a practice to focus on the task at hand. You can solve the other problems later at the proper time. Right now, whatever you are doing in the moment, that is where your attention needs to be.
It seems paradoxical, but the best way to get a lot is to give a lot. However, there is a catch: If you are giving with the sole intention of getting more in return, then it won't work. Do it wrong, and you could soon burn out, do it right and you will get more back than you could imagine.
Offering value is one of the easiest ways to give. There are at least as many ways to offer value as there are situations. If someone asks you directions, draw them a map, or personally guide them there. You can add value at home, school, work, or other. Add something extra to any transaction you are a part of. 'Transaction' in this sense doesn't just apply to money, it can be a verbal, physical or spiritual transaction, too
Going the extra mile is part of the same concept. Overdeliver. Anyone can provide what is expected of them, but if you're the person who gives more and makes someone the better for interacting with you, then you are on the fast track to success. Even if it seems like it is taking a while, never stop - it will happen.
Again, it's important to do this out of a sense of doing what's best for others; not because you are expecting a great reward. Why? Because if you are doing it with expectations for self you are, in effect, being selfish. Obviously, selfishness is not something that is typically rewarded by society.
One of the keys to my success is the desire to help other people succeed. To be honest, I do it with the hopes of one thing in return, and that's your success.
People form habits and habits form futures" my mentor Mike Litman told me. Why are habits so powerful? Well, here is the truth about that statement. Habits are our comfort zone. We feel safe within our habits whether they are good habits or bad habits. We get that Warm and fuzzy feeling when we adorn ourselves in our habits. That is true even when they are uncomfortable habits. Habits become our security blanket
You may ask, "OK, when we are comfortable that's great but when we are feeling lousy about our conditions, why do we keep doing the same old habit?" We continue doing the old habits because it is harder to change them into new ones than keep the old ones. Why is that? F E A R. is the answer. The saying, "False Expectations Appearing Real" applies. My friend, Dr. Mike Davison say's, "Forget Everything And Run" the "fight or flight" syndrome can fit this analogy.
It has been said that it takees 21-days to create a habit but my own stats reveal that it is actually 30-days initially. You have to repeat that habit for another 30-days to reinforce it and again for 30-days to get a residual benefit. That's 90-days. Does that seen like a lifetime to you? I hope not because it is not. It is a lifestyle change only
Do you want to lose weight, get healthier, make more money, get a better job or find that perfect love-one? Take one day at a time, change your attitude and become 1% better than the day before. You may also ask, "Only 1 percent?" Yes, a 1 % attitude shift will allow you to attain miracles. Change your ATTITUDE and CHANGE your LIFE. See yourself as the change that you are going after. Be the change that you want to see.
Get a Vision, Make a Decision, Change your Habits, Use a strategy that has worked for others and Take immediate intense Actions by using small baby steps daily. Write down your plans. Work your Plan. Finally, Celebrate your new 1% successes each and every day.
The difference between winning and losing in most competitions is less that 1% or even 100th of a percent. Think of this, if you get 1% better each day for 90 days you will become 90% better in every 90-day cycle. Every year has four 90-day cycles; summer, fall, winter and spring. It's that natural and you can do it. It's your gift from Mother Nature.

Say, "I am healthier, in better shape, physically, mentally and spiritually than ever before And I am getting better and better everyday. I have a Dream and I live for that Dream everyday. Miracles are on their way.

We all know human frailty is part of life. However, HOW we handle discoveries about ourselves is key. The wise person seeks the truth and allows themselves to receive feedback from a trusted source-their own self. Through self-observation, we can recognize and audit areas of counterproductive behavior.
What is the purpose of a self-audit? The purpose of a self- audit is to verify information about ourselves and to assess whether our actions are moving us toward or away from our stated goals.
Do a realistic self-audit. How can I better support my passions? What patterns of behavior do I exhibit that sabotage my goals? What areas of self doubt is an obstacle to my desires? As I look at my daily schedule, am I making the realization of my dreams a priority? Asking these questions will help you clarify steps you need to take to keep your dreams alive.
Feelings of inadequacy or insecurity can easily delay or halt a dream. We can second guess or dismiss the validity of our talents which often results in apathy and procrastination, making our dreams out of reach.
